Compact and sturdy plants with white flowers on strong thick stems. Drought tolerant.  A large group of elegant and beautiful perennials that are also hardy and dependable.  Astilbes require lots of moisture in full sun but less in shaded areas and perform best in moist, partial shade.  Excellent with Hosta, Bergenia, Siberian and Japanese Iris.  Good near water.  Most effective in masses.  Remove faded blooms.
